A note in the margin Google calls it “an airy, split-level cafe.” We call it two rooms that argue about which one gets the better light. The upstairs usually wins.

Ch. 03 — The room

Two floors, one long morning

Downstairs is the mural wall and the teal banquettes — good for four people who intend to talk. Up the short flight there is a skylight, a foosball table nobody is embarrassed to use, and a balcony that catches the tree line over 5th Main.

There is no bar. There is no reservation book. There is coffee, and there is the shelf, and the rest tends to sort itself out.
